Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve Well Construction Update

The next phase of the Marjorie Perry Nature Preserve Well project is to construct the well house and water distribution system to the ponds, as well as an irrigation system along the High Line Canal.

Located near the well, the 15-by-17-foot well house will have 8-foot walls. The irrigation system will be installed along the High Line Canal to water the new trees from Belleview Avenue down to Orchard Road, east of Jackson Street.

Construction is scheduled to start between mid-January and early February. The High Line Canal Trail is expected to remain open for most of the construction, with only a few brief closures as needed to ensure safe equipment passage. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of summer, weather permitting. View a map of the project location and learn more.

E-Bike, E-Motorcycle and E-Scooter Laws and Safety

Like many communities in the Front Range, Greenwood Village has seen more e-bikes, e-scooters, e-dirt bikes, and e-motorcycles showing up around the city. With recent advances in technology making these types of vehicles much faster and more accessible, more people are riding them on our streets, sidewalks, pedestrian paths and trails.

Greenwood Village would like to remind residents and families that public safety remains our top priority. Before you buy or ride any kind of electric vehicle for yourself or your child, take time to understand your machine, its capabilities, where it is allowed and what Colorado law requires. Learn more about E-Bike, E-Motorcycle and E-Scooter Laws and Safety.

In addition to installing new signage in parks and trails to clarify the prohibition of e-dirt bikes and e-motos, The Greenwood Village City Council will consider an ordinance regarding e-bikes at its February 2 regular meeting. Sign up to receive notice of City Council meeting agendas.

Mayor's Holiday Lighting Photos

Greenwood Village City Hall was transformed into a magical winter wonderland for this year’s Mayor’s Holiday Lighting, with Mayor George Lantz and City Council holding their torches high to mark the final celebration of the City’s 75th anniversary year. Santa Claus even brought real reindeer from the North Pole to add extra fun to the family-friendly activities and live entertainment. Thank you to all the Villagers who joined us for all the festive fun! View the Mayor's Holiday Lighting photo gallery.

Cherry Creek School District

Cherry Creek High School Rebuild Phase I Update

Thanks to strong community support of the November 2024 mill and bond measure, Cherry Creek School District (CCSD) is moving forward with the first phase of a major rebuild Cherry Creek High School (CCHS) to modernize aging facilities and better serve students for decades to come.

This past fall, CCSD held several community meetings, including a large public meeting on November 24, where project details were shared, including the Phase I and Phase II plan, construction schedule, and new renderings. Demolition of district office buildings will begin in spring 2026, with the new West Buildings expected to open by summer 2028.

East Belleview Trail Public Input Meeting

Wednesday, January 28, 6 to 7 p.m. at Maintenance Facility

The Parks, Trails, and Recreation (PTR) Department invites the public to review the revised landscape improvements for the East Belleview corridor. Join us for a public meeting on Wednesday, January 28, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Greenwood Village Maintenance Facility, where we encourage community feedback on all aspects of the revised landscape corridor, including ideas and input for plantings.

During the first public meeting held last July, many residents expressed support for removing the existing gravel trail on the north side of East Belleview Avenue, between South Dayton Street and the Cherry Creek State Park, citing safety concerns and that the trail led to an unsupported access point into the park.

After coordinating with Cherry Creek State Park to confirm that this is not an approved access point, Greenwood Village has agreed to remove the trail and add ornamental landscape features to improve the corridor’s aesthetics instead. Residents will be directed to use the existing sidewalk on the south side of Belleview Avenue that connects to the official Cherry Creek State Park trail with a crosswalk at South Geneva Street.

For more information or questions, email Jonathan Vittal, PTR Project Manager.
