Park Rules and Regulations

Rules for use of the City's parks and fields have been established by the City Council and are adopted in Chapter 11, Article 5 of the Greenwood Village municipal code

Park Hours

Parks and natural open areas shall be open from dusk until dawn.  Trails are open for travel at all hours, except the High Line Canal trail, which is open from dusk until dawn.

Shelters, pavilions and fields can be permitted from 8 a.m. to dusk, Monday through Saturday and from 10 a.m. to dusk on Sundays and holidays.  Only single-date permits will be permitted on Sundays, with no consecutive Sunday permits allowed (Except Curtis Park). Curtis Park can be permitted from 1 p.m. to dusk on Sundays.

Resident Priority

Applicants for resident events may apply for a single-date permit 60 days before non-residents per seasonal permitting schedule.

Prohibited Activities

  • Tents, booths, awnings, canopies, inflatable amusements, and field markings are not allowed by user groups without the consent of Greenwood Village staff.
  • No field shall be played on when wet enough to cause damage to the field. Users should call the Weather Line at 303-486-5770 after 4 p.m. on Friday for Saturday closures.
  • Users will not trespass onto private property bordering the parks.
  • Firearms or weapons, including bows and arrows, bow-fishing devices, and harpoons, except with prior written permission of the City Manager
  • Glass containers (except in compliance with a special occasion permit)
  • Alcoholic beverages (not including malt beverages or vinous liquors as defined in Article 3 of Title 44, C.R.S.), unless in compliance with a special occasion permit
  • Fires are prohibited except within enclosed grills (and only with consent from Greenwood Village staff).
  • Use of motor vehicles in any park, natural open area or trail is prohibited except on designated roadways or parking areas. 
  • Swimming, wading and boating is prohibited in/on any waters in any park or open space area.
  • The speed limit for all bicycles, electrical-assisted bicycles, or other non-vehicular transportation apparatus is 15 miles per hour on trails, paths and sidewalks.

Greenwood Village parks are patrolled by local law enforcement and all other applicable rules and regulations, to including City ordinances, will be enforced.

Clean Up

Users will clean up the area after their event and leave the park in good condition.  You must remove all items from the area and properly dispose of all trash. 

The City has the right to assess any individual or organization responsible for any undue damage or abuse to the park.  Repair or clean-up beyond normal use will be billed to applicants based on the cost of the service.

Cancellation Fees

Cancellations within two weeks of the reservation will result in a 10 percent cancellation fee.  In the event of weather-related cancellations, the City will work with permit holders to reschedule or issue a full refund.
