The best way to find out if you need a permit is to call us at 303-486-5783. The Building and Planning staff will assist you with your project and help determine if a permit is required. If a permit is required, it must be obtained prior to starting work on the project. Below is a sample list of projects requiring a permit.
A permit is required for:New residential and commercial constructionAttached or detached garagesAdditions to any structureInterior remodeling which involves any change or modification/addition to framing or the mechanical, plumbing or electric system (including service upgrades)Lawn sprinkler / irrigation systemsReplacing cabinets with framing modificationsPorches and decksConcrete or flatwork (Including steps, porches, patios) - call for verification of proposed workSwimming pools, hot tubs and spasWindowsAccessory structures including sheds and fire pitsFences, dog runs, gates and entry monumentsChanging existing plumbing fixturesRoofing or repairs to an existing roof (in excess of 100 square feet)SidingSignsCommercial telecommunications equipment including antennae and satellite dishesTemporary uses - permits required for tents, portable generators, temporary signs, etc.DrivewayWater heaters, furnaces, air conditionersChanges to HVAC systems
