Southgate Sanitation District will begin work on the Colsman Tunnel Rehabilitation Project the first week in October and will continue through May 2019 at the west portal location and through November 2019 at the east portal. This project consists of rehabilitating an existing 1.5 mile long sewer tunnel by pulling a new 48-inch diameter plastic pipe through the tunnel. The contractor must set-up work sites at two locations to pull the pipe in place, one at the entrance of the tunnel and the other at the exit of the tunnel. One work site, the east portal will be located at Southgate's offices near E. Orchard Road and S. Jackson Street. The second work site, the west portal will be located on the south side of E. Orchard Road between S. Ogden Court and S. Humboldt Court.
Traffic impacts will occur near the west portal:
- Lane closures on E. Orchard Road from S. Ogden Court to S. Humboldt Court will be required with approved traffic plans by the City of Centennial and City of Greenwood Village
- E. Orchard Road will be temporarily re-striped to maintain 2-way traffic, shifted to the north
- S. Cherrywood Circle will be closed at E. Orchard Road and traffic will be detoured to S. Clarkson Street
Southgate's contact for this project will be Project Manager Christina Baca or you can visit the project website for updates.
