[ARCHIVED] GVDP Officers Negotiate Peaceful Surrender

On May 16, 2023, at approximately 12:10 PM, the Greenwood Village Police Department responded to the Arapahoe at Village Center Station light rail platform located at 6398 East Caley Avenue regarding alleged drug activity. When officers arrived, they noticed a male subject matching the description of those involved in the drug activity. The subject appeared to have a large, edged weapon in his jacket and fled from officers onto a northbound RTD train. The subject barricaded himself inside the train and was threatening self-harm. After 40 minutes of negotiations, the subject peacefully surrendered to officers. The subject was transported to a local hospital for additional care. The investigation into any potential criminal charges is ongoing.

No RTD patrons, passengers, or employees were in danger during this incident, and there were no injuries to any parties involved.
