Recombobulation Installation Workshop
Saturday, August 20, 2022
This workshop will celebrate creativity through the art of assemblage. A fun collaborative project, the hands-on workshop will allow and encourage participants to build an assemblage sculpture that will be featured as part of the Recombobulation exhibit at the Curtis Center gallery from September 3 through October 29.
Participants will design and construct 4 individual elements (blocks) that will be layered onto a “totem” installation that will be featured in the exhibition. (Students will take home their individual elements after the exhibit is over).
The workshop will focus on how to use and manipulate common everyday found objects. Students will learn how to recontextualize objects through strategic planning. They will come away thinking differently about “junk” and consider “upcycling” as elevated recycling - not to mention have fun doing it!
