2025 Colorado Legislative Session
The 2025 Colorado Legislative Session has begun, and the City of Greenwood Village is following several bills that could impact our residents and businesses. Greenwood Village is very concerned about legislation that continues to ignore the state's Home Rule provisions, which allow local governments to make decisions in the best interest of their communities. Bills this year that concern us include:
- HB 25-1147 which would force the city to reduce penalties for theft, undermining efforts to combat rising crime.
- HB 25-1169 that would allow housing developments on church or school properties without public hearings, potentially altering community character.
- HB 25-1113 that could limit residents' choice in landscaping, banning real grass in new homes.
- HB 25-1056 that could limit cities’ ability to regulate cell tower placement, imposing them automatically without community input.
- SB 25-002 that could override local building codes for manufactured housing, allowing state rules to take precedence over local standards for construction.
