Greenwood Village and the South Metro corridor continued to attract great business in 2016!

Granite Properties -

  February 17 was a great day celebrating the groundbreaking of Granite Properties and Confluent Development’s new office building, Granite Place at Village Center, on the east side of I-25. Granite Place at Village Center will add to the Village’s inventory of high quality commercial buildings. The transit-oriented development is within walking distance of the Arapahoe at Village Center light rail station and directly adjacent to the Westin Hotel. It will include a Class AA 10-story, 300,000-square foot office property on 5.24 acres, with a separate six-story parking structure. The project includes two outdoor plazas, a pedestrian connection to the Westin Greenwood Village, and a series of off-site transportation improvements, including the extension of Willow Drive and Caley Avenue.

Charter Communications

– will be the sole tenant of a 12-story office tower now under construction near Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village.  The 306,000-square-foot office building, the third and final phase of the Village Center Station mixed-use development that also includes CoBank’s new headquarters, is expected to be completed in early 2018.  The telecom company plans to move its entire product, software architecture and development, technology services, northwest regional office, real estate and strategic procurement organizations into the building, as well as local representatives of its corporate human resources, facilities, field operations, spectrum reach and enterprise teams. This state-of-the-art workplace will be well suited to support a wide range of business purposes including the design and development work powering all of Charter’s products and services.  In addition to its already large corporate presence, Charter plans to add over 800 new high tech jobs in the coming years.

The Economic Activity Doesn't Stop in 2015!

The City of Greenwood Village has continued to see a lot of economic growth through the first half of 2015. A Five Star hotel, another high Class A commercial office building, and unique retail have arrived or are coming to Greenwood Village.

Five Star Westin Hotel -

Plans have been finalized for the new Westin 5-star hotel. City Council approved the development of a Westin Hotel at the Arapahoe at Village Center Station. The Westin Hotel will be the first five-star hotel in the south Denver area and is expected to begin construction in the second quarter of 2015.

The new hotel franchise, comprised of 3.5 acres previously owned by the Village, will be located on the east side of I-25, adjacent to the Arapahoe Light-Rail parking garage, where the current surface parking lot is located. The proposed hotel will include 203 hotel rooms and suites, a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, meeting space, swimming pool, and underground parking. The Westin property will be located steps from the pedestrian bridge and parking structure serving the RTD Arapahoe at Village Center light-rail station and the Village Center retail and office buildings. The hotel will be highly visible and convenient to I-25, making it easily accessible for motorists and light rail users.

Village Center DTC Granite Office Building

- At the January 26, 2015 City Council meeting, the City Council approved the development of an office building, known as Village Center DTC, at the Village Center on the east side of I-25. Village Center DTC will add to the Village’s inventory of high quality commercial buildings. Village Center DTC will include a 280,000-square foot office property on 5.24 acres, consisting of a 10-story, Class AA speculative office building with a separate six-story, 986 parking space structure. Village Center DTC will be located within walking distance of the Arapahoe Light-Rail Station and directly adjacent to the newly approved Westin Hotel. The project includes two outdoor plazas, a pedestrian connection to the Westin Greenwood Village, and a series of off-site transportation improvements, including the extension of Willow Drive and Caley Avenue and intersection enhancements.

Village Center DTC’s location will offer significant highway visibility, as well as one-turn access to I-25 via Orchard or Arapahoe Road. The project will pursue LEED certification and will feature an on-site deli and fitness center for tenants and employees of the building. Granite Properties, purchasing the land from Koelbel and Company who has been the original owner of the parcel since 1987, partnered with Confluent Holdings and Open Studio Architecture on design.

Espresso Americano -

In November 2014, Espresso Americano opened their first location in the U.S. at 5322 DTC Boulevard, #200 in the Village Plaza Shopping Center and opened a second location in the Landmark at 5370 Greenwood Plaza Blvd. #109 .Espresso Americano has a deep passion for providing quality products and service, in addition to assisting the community as well. Espresso Americano features their own coffees as well as Rishi fine teas, chocolates, and coffee accessories . Over time, Espresso Americano has grown their coffee farm to well over 1,500 acres. Monkeysports -

Monkey Sports is now open in the Village at 6578 S. Yosemite Circle, and welcomes everyone to shop for the best selection of brand name hockey, baseball/softball and lacrosse equipment available. With their recent grand opening, their first retail location in Colorado offers stellar customer service and an amazing in-store shopping experience. Customers all over the world have benefitted from obtaining the equipment they desire the most at Monkey Sports online, and now purchasing these items is even easier with practically all items now available at their conveniently located Village location at the I25 & Arapahoe corridor.

Greenwood Village Continues Its Momentum in 2014!
The City of Greenwood Village is having another great year in the area of economic development and business growth for 2014. The Village continues to work with its partners to build upon the economic development already established.

Trader Joes -

In early August 2013, Trader Joes announced that they would be locating their third Colorado store in Greenwood Village in 2014. The Grand Opening was held on February 14, 2014. The store is located in the Cherry Hills Marketplace located at 5901 South University Boulevard. Trader Joes is regarded throughout the country for its line of specialty food items that are affordable for the consumer.

Amg Bank

- The national headquarters of AMG National Trust Bank will relocate to Greenwood Village,construction began in March 2014. The firm’s headquarters, which will be located at the northwest corner of East Caley Avenue and Greenwood Plaza Boulevard, will complement the City’s Village Center development near Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre. The building will be fashioned after The Palace of the Rhine in Strasbourg, France, and will feature a dome and old-world European theme encompassing three-stories comprised of 45,000 square feet of office space, along with 277 parking spaces. LEED enhancements that will be incorporated in the development includes; bicycle storage, changing rooms, water efficient landscape, use of regional materials processed and manufactured regionally, and indoor environmental quality including HVAC equipment with improved lighting power density with comprehensive, high efficiency water heaters and snowmelt boilers.

Cobank Center

- CoBank will move its headquarters to a new 11-story, Class A office tower that is now being developed in Greenwood Village. The new CoBank Center will be a 296,000 square foot build to suit office complexes in the Arapahoe at Village Center Station development, located at I-25 and Arapahoe Road. Shea Properties is constructing the CoBank Center; the second of three buildings planned at the Village Center. The building will include a 6-level parking structure and is being designed with LEED technology. Construction started in April 2014 and is expected to be complete by the fourth quarter 2015. Shea Properties is also actively working to secure anchor tenants for the third and final building at the Village Center.
As part of our efforts in 2014, Greenwood Village continues work with Arapahoe Douglas Works!, to connect our businesses with the workforce they need to be successful. The Match program, offered by Arapahoe Douglas Works! is a great opportunity for businesses to get assistance with training for new hires. Cool Planet Energy Systems

- In July 2013, Cool Planet Energy Systems officially announced it would be opening its new global headquarters in Greenwood Village. In addition, they are locating a manufacturing facility in the metro area. Both sites will collectively create hundreds of jobs over the next three years. Cool Planet has developed a patented process that converts non-food biomass into gasoline through mechanical and chemical processes, which can be used in any vehicle on the road today. This clean renewable fuel can be distributed and used in today's cars with no change to existing infrastructure. In addition to the fuel, the Cool Planet process creates a solid inert carbon known as biochar, which when sequestered in the ground as a soil enhancer, removes CO2 from the atmosphere while improving the soil for agricultural use. The company's investors include GE, BP, Google Ventures, Exelon, NRG, Shea Ventures, North Bridge Venture Partners and ConocoPhillips. Cool Planet began moving into their new offices in the Plaza Tower I building, 6400 South Fiddlers Green Circle, in September.

Fidelity Investments

- On September 19, 2013, Fidelity Investments held a ribbon cutting to officially open their new regional customer contact center in the Fiddlers Center I building, 6501 South Fiddlers Green Circle. Fidelity first announced they would be locating their new facility here in January. The center will eventually employ 500 people and occupies 100,000 sq. ft. of space. Fidelity representatives at the center will assist customers with retirement planning, saving for college, managing investment portfolios and other needs.

Selling Simplified

- Another company chose Greenwood Village as the home for its global headquarters when Selling Simplified held a ribbon cutting on August 20, 2013, in the Solarium Building at 7400 East Orchard Road. Their 14,000 sq. ft. training and development center will employ 60 – 70 people by 2014 and up to 120 in the next few years. Selling Simplified specializes in high level sales support for information technology companies, such as lead generation for clients, qualifying prospects, and creating prospect profiles, as well as other services.
