Do I Need a Permit?

Work Requiring a Permit

The best way to find out if you need a permit is to call us at 303-486-5783. Building and Planning staff will assist you with your project and help determine whether a permit is required.

A permit is generally required for any new building, addition, alteration, repair, or change in use of an existing building or structure and site improvements.

Permits are generally not required for painting, floor coverings, other similar finish work and kitchen cabinet installation (plumbing permit may be required for the re-installation of fixtures). If you have any questions about whether or not a permit is needed, please call 303-486-5783 before you begin work. Click to view the Building Permit Application (New) form.
