Energy Requirements Guideline
The City of Greenwood Village enforces the 2012 International Residential Code. In content and by reference, this requires that all new residential projects comply with the 2012 International Energy Code and Chapter 11 of the International Residential Code. Specifically, these two sources help ensure that new homes are constructed with energy efficiency in mind. These energy requirements can be met by one of the following methods:
  • Refer to the 2012 IECC
  • If the required thermal performance values listed above cannot be met with the intended design, the Designer or Contractor may make substitutions in the design to achieve the same overall thermal performance. These substitutions must be evaluated using the REScheck Energy Analysis to ensure compliance with the code requirements. At the time of the permit application, the Contractor shall supply the printed REScheck analysis and the inspection checklist specific to the project

The REScheck software is available to download free online.

If you have questions regarding these requirements for your permit application, please call Community Development, Building Division at (303) 486-5783.
