Boards and Commissions

More than 40 citizens serve on various boards, councils, and commissions in Greenwood Village, enhancing local government responsiveness to community needs.  The skills and commitment volunteers bring to public service are an important resource to our community.  Check out the current Greenwood Village Boards and Commissions on the menu to the left.

Apply to Serve

Applications to serve may be submitted at any time. Individuals are eligible to serve on boards and commissions if they are qualified electors as outlined in the Municipal Code.  When openings arise, the two District City Councilmembers will consider any applications on file. Incumbent board/commission members will be given preference, but reappointment is not guaranteed to ensure each board/commission maintains a diverse representation of interests that affect the quality of life in Greenwood Village.

Advisory to City Council

Most boards and commissions consist of eight members, and one staff liaison and board secretary. They operate in an advisory capacity to the City Council, reviewing issues and making recommendations.  The City Council makes the final decision on the issues after considering the board/commission's recommendations, as well as input from the public, staff, and other interested parties.

Meetings Open to the Public

With few exceptions, City Council meetings and any of its appointed boards are open to the public. Citizen participation is encouraged and welcomed at these meetings. Council and staff believe that the more involved citizens are in the early stages of program and legislation development, the better local government can meet the needs and expectations of our community.
